銷是用於兩個零件間定位或固定的小型緊固件。平行銷用於精密定位；彈簧銷靠彈性恢復力防脫；錐銷靠楔緊效果提供強固定。開口銷(銷釘)用於螺母防脫，不可重複使用。

How do I choose between a dowel pin and a spring pin?
Use dowel pins (knock pins) for precise positioning; use spring pins for simple securing with frequent assembly/disassembly. Dowel pins need h6/h8 tolerance holes; spring pins press into standard drilled holes.
What is the difference between a groove pin and a spring pin?
Groove pins hold via elastic deformation of external grooves; their solid section gives high shear strength. Spring pins have a C-shaped cross-section with lower insertion force and easier removal.
How do you install a split (cotter) pin?
Insert through a hole in the nut or bolt, then bend both legs to prevent withdrawal. Used in safety-critical joints with castle nuts or clevis pins. Reuse is not recommended.
