Hot-Rolled Steel (SS400) Spec Table

Hot-Rolled Steel (SS400) KS Specifications — 15 sizes
KS D 3503

Minimum bend values for SS400 hot-rolled steel plate. Used in thicker gauges (1.6-12mm) than SPCC, requires larger R relative to thickness.

Practical Notes

  • Thicker than SPCC (1.6–12mm). Larger R relative to thickness; R ≥ 1.5t recommended above 6mm.

Key Features

  • Hot-rolled SS400; minimum R differs between mill scale and pickled surface conditions
  • Covers thick range t1.6–12 mm; provides bending specs for thicker plates than SPCC
  • R ≥ 1.5t (general), R ≥ 2.0t (t > 6 mm) recommended; crack risk increases with thickness

Key Applications

Construction equipment buckets, truck beds, steel brackets, tank shells, heavy equipment covers

FAQ

Minimum bend R for hot-rolled steel?

By thickness: t3.2→R ≥3.2mm (1.0t), t6.0→R ≥9mm (1.5t), t9.0→R ≥18mm (2.0t). Required R increases sharply with thickness.
