Coupling Nut Spec Table
This specification follows DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung, German Industrial Standard). It is essential when maintaining German or European-sourced equipment and when supplying to the European market.
An extra-tall nut (about 3× standard height) used to join or extend long bolts and threaded rods.
Practical Notes
- When coupling bolts from both ends, thread engagement must be at least 1D (bolt diameter) on each side.
- When joining threaded rods, adjust so they meet at the nut center. Off-center engagement reduces strength.
Selection Guide
For coupling threaded rods, extending long bolts, and adjusting pipe hanger heights. 1.5–3× the height of standard nuts with more thread engagement. Primarily used as couplings with bolts threaded from both ends.

FAQ
Difference between coupling nut and tall nut?
Essentially the same part. "Tall nut" is used in Korea/Japan; "coupling nut" in North America. Both serve the same threaded rod connection purpose.
