Slotted Nut Spec Table
Slotted Nut Specifications — 6 sizes
KS B 1015
A slotted hex nut with grooves for a split pin, providing positive locking on safety-critical rotating parts and axles.
Practical Notes
- Must be used with split pins. Without them, it performs no better than a regular nut.
- Aligning bolt hole and nut slot can be tricky. Apply slight extra torque to align — never back off to align.
Selection Guide
Used with split/cotter pins for positive physical anti-removal in safety-critical joints — automotive hub bearings, aircraft linkages, crane shafts. Bolt hole and nut slot must align, which can make simultaneous torque and slot positioning challenging.

Key Features
- Circumferential slots on top accept split/cotter pins for physical anti-removal
- KS B 1015 / ISO 7035; specified for safety-critical fastening points
- Also called castle nut; alignment of bolt hole with slot is critical
Key Applications
Automotive hub bearings, aircraft control linkage, crane sheave shafts, heavy equipment pins, railway axles
FAQ
How to select split pin size?
Select by nut slot width and bolt hole diameter. Pin diameter should be slightly smaller than hole; length approximately 2× bolt diameter.
