Stepper Motor Spec Table

Stepper Motor Specifications — 12 sizes
NEMANEMA ICS 16

A motor that rotates in fixed angle steps per pulse signal, enabling open-loop position control. Used in 3D printers, CNC, and semiconductor equipment.

Practical Notes

  • Stepper motor torque drops sharply with speed (T-N curve). Rated torque is low-speed holding torque — verify torque at actual operating speed.

Selection Guide

Open-loop precision positioning without encoders. Suitable for low-speed, high-torque applications at lower cost than servos. Torque drops sharply at high speeds; consider servos for high-speed needs. Common in 3D printers, small CNC, and instruments.

Key Features

  • One pulse = fixed step angle (1.8°/0.9°) rotation; open-loop position control
  • NEMA 17/23/34 frame sizes; holds position with holding torque when stationary
  • Microstepping (1/2–1/256) improves resolution and suppresses low-speed vibration

Key Applications

3D printer axis drive, CNC routers, packaging indexing, CCTV pan-tilt, valve actuators

FAQ

What is step loss (stalling) in stepper motors?

When load torque exceeds motor output, the motor skips designated steps. Open-loop control cannot detect step loss. Ensure 50%+ safety margin or add an encoder.
