Phosphor Bronze Spec Table

Phosphor Bronze KS Specifications — 1 sizes
KS D 6024

Phosphor bronze (copper-tin-phosphorus alloy) with excellent wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and spring properties. Used for springs, bearings, gears, and electrical contacts.

Practical Notes

  • Excellent spring properties — used for spring washers, contact springs, and connector terminals.
  • High wear and fatigue resistance suit bearings, gears, and bushings. Self-lubricating — advantageous where oiling is difficult.

Key Features

  • C5191/C5210 (Cu-Sn-P); Sn 6–8% + P 0.1–0.35% for excellent elastic limit and fatigue resistance
  • Excellent spring properties (repeated elastic deformation); more economical spring material than beryllium copper
  • Wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic; resists corrosion in seawater and acidic environments

Key Applications

Connector terminal springs, switch contacts, diaphragms, spring washers, bearing bushings

FAQ

What types of phosphor bronze exist?

C5111 (4% Sn)→general, C5191 (6%)→springs/connectors, C5210 (8%)→high-elastic springs. Higher tin = stronger and more elastic but less machinable.
