Stainless Plate Spec Table

Stainless Plate Specifications — 36 sizes
KS D 3698JIS G 4305

Stainless steel plate (SUS304, SUS316, etc.) with excellent corrosion resistance, used in food machinery, medical devices, and chemical equipment.

Practical Notes

  • Iron contamination from carbon steel tools causes rust on SUS304. Use passivation after machining or dedicated stainless tools.

Selection Guide

For corrosion resistance. SUS304 for general use, SUS316 for seawater/chloride environments. Used in food machinery, medical devices, chemical equipment. Magnetism: SUS304 non-magnetic (slightly magnetic after cold working); SUS430 is magnetic.

Key Features

  • Clear characteristic differences by grade: STS304 (general), STS316 (corrosion), STS430 (magnetic)
  • Surface finishes from No.1 (hot-rolled) to HL (hairline) to BA (bright) to #400 (mirror)
  • Simultaneously meets corrosion, heat, and hygiene requirements; base material for food/medical

Key Applications

Kitchen equipment, food tanks, chemical reactors, architectural exterior, medical device housings

FAQ

Price difference between SUS304 and SUS316?

SUS316 is about 30–50% more expensive than SUS304 (due to Mo addition). SUS304 is sufficient unless chloride/seawater environments are involved.
