PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) evaporates or sputters metal in a vacuum chamber to deposit a few-micrometer-thick hard film on the substrate. Common coatings include TiN (gold, HV 2300), TiCN (gray-black, HV 3000), CrN (silver, HV 1800), and AlCrN (black-gray, HV 3200) — widely used on cutting tools, press dies, medical instruments, and decorative parts. Its low process temperature allows application without substrate distortion.
