Brass Spec Table

Brass KS Specifications — 1 sizes
KS D 5201

Copper-zinc alloy (C2801, etc.) with good machinability and corrosion resistance, used for valves, fittings, terminals, and ornaments.

Practical Notes

  • C2801 offers good machinability and corrosion resistance but not high strength. For strength, consider phosphor bronze (C5191).
  • High-zinc brass (>35% Zn) is susceptible to dezincification. Check zinc ratio for humid environments.

Key Features

  • C2600 (70Cu-30Zn) / C2801 (60Cu-40Zn); higher Zn increases strength but decreases ductility
  • Golden appearance; electrical conductivity ~28% of Cu but excellent workability and corrosion resistance
  • Good for cold drawing, pressing, and cutting; optimal as plating base metal

Key Applications

Pipe fittings/valves, electrical terminals/connectors, musical instruments (brass), architectural decorative, watch parts

FAQ

Does brass color vary by zinc content?

Yes. 10% zinc (reddish)→20% (golden)→30% (light gold)→40% (bright yellow). C2600 (70/30) provides the most attractive gold color for decorative use.
